About Us

Picture of Susan and Richard Tocher, Owners of The Ness Guest House B&B, smiling at the cameraHello!  This is a first for us – talking about ourselves!  It’s not something we do often.  We love meeting our guests from all over the world and hearing their stories.  We talk to our guests about Scotland, the places, culture, the people and the weather!  So we don’t really talk about ourselves much (honestly!).  However, we thought maybe you would be interested to know a wee bit about your hosts.

We are Richard and Susan Tocher, both born and raised in Edinburgh and moved to Inverness in 2012 to open our Bed and Breakfast.  We both had professional careers and had never owned a hospitality business before.  It took over a year to find the perfect location.  The beautiful Victorian house we bought in Inverness had been a family home since it was built in 1877 so it took a lot of work to convert the house into our cosy B&B with four comfortable ensuite bedrooms and a breakfast room.  We think it still feels like a family home, with all the facilities guests want and keeping many of the Victorian features in the house.  We’re in a great location, only a few minutes walk to the city centre, situated in the Crown area, a gentile, Victorian part of the city.

Because we were new to Inverness and the Highlands, we spent every spare minute exploring the city and discovering all the fantastic places the Highlands have got to offer.  We can’t wait to share these places with you.   The best part of owning a B&B is when we hear our guests say that they’ve loved their stay in Inverness and want to return to the Scottish Highlands.  It makes our day!

It’s just the two of us in the business and the B&B is our home too.  It’s a very busy occupation, we cook and serve the breakfast, clean the rooms (working alongside our fantastic housekeeper), personally check-in all our guests and do everything else in between!  It doesn’t matter that there are no reception staff, no breakfast waiting staff and no porters – the best thing about staying in our B&B is the personal service you will get from us. We will make you feel very much at home, will provide excellent service, impart our local knowledge of places to visit and you’ll find that we are genuinely enthusiastic about our city and the Scottish Highlands.

Look forward to meeting you soon.

Failte!
