Your health and safety while staying at The Ness Guest House has always been our priority, even more so since the Coronavirus has become a part of our daily lives.

We also want you to have a comfortable stay, enjoy a tasty home cooked Scottish breakfast and experience excellent, friendly personal service. We believe that we can do this and minimize risk.

Our B&B is small with only four guest bedrooms and one breakfast room.  This allows us to practice social distancing and to continue to achieve high levels of hygiene.

We pride ourselves on having a very high standard of cleanliness, as evidenced by our reviews.  Our existing rigorous cleaning regime will be supplemented with the additional hygiene procedures given below.  

If you have symptoms of the virus or have been tested positive 14 days before your stay with us please contact us to reschedule your reservation.

Some changes have had to be made to the way we normally work and are listed below.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like further information.

We will personally check you in – we feel this is such a worthwhile and invaluable part of your stay (and we look forward to meeting you!).  We will stay 1m apart and please forgive us that we won’t shake your hand.  We will be wearing a mask and guests must wear a mask/facecovering when arriving at the B&B and in all the shared areas of the B&B.  Your room keys will have been disinfected and will be in a plastic envelope.

Our card payment machine will be cleaned with disinfectant wipes before and after every use and hand sanitiser is available next to the card machine.  We encourage the use of contactless payments such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.  

Shared areas in our B&B will be regularly disinfected; such as door handles, railings, light switches.  

There is hand sanitiser in the entrance hallway and in the breakfast room.  We ask all our guests to use these when entering the B&B, many thanks.
Sorry, we cannot provide facemasks or gloves for you, you are welcome to bring your own.

We will continue to offer you our tasty full Scottish breakfast in the breakfast room.  As we have only four tables (maximum eight people) and by removing furniture we have been able to position the tables further apart.

Please use the hand sanitiser when entering the breakfast room.

We will regularly wash our hands (as normal) and will wear a mask when serving breakfast.  Guests must wear a mask/facecovering when entering and leaving the breakfast room.

Your personal table is numbered the same as your room number.  No-one else will use your table during your stay.  The cover that was  placed over your table when it was disinfected will be removed once you arrive for breakfast.

Unfortunately we cannot provide self service food items at breakfast.  These will still be available and served to you at your table.

  • Tables will be cleaned and fully disinfected at the end of breakfast service.  All consumables on the tables will be removed and replaced, even if unused.
  • Crockery, cutlery and glassware is washed and sterilized at a high temperature in a dishwasher.  

The tables will be reset and covered over until their use the following morning.  We kindly ask that the tables are not used once they are set and covered.

If you don’t wish to eat breakfast in the breakfast room we can offer you a take-away continental-style breakfast.  This will be packed and ready for you to take with you on your day trip.

The guest fridge in the breakfast room will be regularly cleaned with disinfectant.  Guests must use the hand sanitiser in the breakfast room before and after opening the fridge.

Guest bedrooms will be cleaned as per our existing thorough cleaning regime.

  • Hard surfaces will then be disinfected with cleaning products that are tested to EN standards.
  • All items in the room, such as the information folder, the pencil, the TV remote and the hairdryer will be wiped with disinfectant.
  • Fabrics in the room such as curtains, headboards and upholstered chairs will be sprayed with an anti-bacterial soft surface spray.  Cushions and bedspreads will be removed from bedrooms.
  • All consumables in the room, such as tea & coffee sachets and toiletries will be removed (even if not used) and will be replaced with new items.
  • As per our normal cleaning procedures all un-used towels, teacups and glasses will be removed from guest bedrooms and replaced with new.
  • Bed linen will be washed at a high temperature.

We will provide quick servicing of the guest bedrooms; replacing towels, emptying waste bins and replenishing the tea tray. Our aim is to revert back to full room servicing as soon as Government guidance allows.

While cleaning guest rooms we will wear gloves (one pair for each room) and facemasks.

We understand completely that travelling at the moment may be difficult and that itineries may change at short notice due to the Coronavirus restrictions in place so we aim to be as flexible as possible with our cancellation policy. 

We have conducted a Coronavirus | Covid-19 risk assessment, copies of which are available for our guests upon request.
